Developers | Development Team
The developers, also known as the development team, include all the members of the cross-functional team. The other roles in scrum are the scrum master and also the product owner. In summary, they are responsible for carrying out all activities involved in the development of products and services.
The developers are responsible for overseeing the entire development process from start to finish.
The product owner prioritizes tasks based on the requirements outlined in the product backlog. The development team then takes these items and, during the sprint, works to deliver an increment, which represents the value provided to the customer at the end of each sprint.
Additionally, the team may work on other items during the sprint, but if these are incomplete, they are excluded from the increment. These unfinished items are handed back to the product owner, who decides whether they return to the backlog or are discarded.
The increment consists not only of new items but may also include changes identified in previous sprints. The developers, together with the rest of the scrum team, also define the “definition of ready.”
The scrum master main role is to help the team implement as well as to follow scrum. Besides that the scrum master will help the team to stay focus and no one interfere with the work of the team during sprints.
Roles of Developers, Team Members, or Development Team
A team member can:
- Be part of an internal as well as an external team
- Work full-time or part-time
- Specialize in a particular area of expertise or, on the other hand, have a broad knowledge of various areas
- Collaborate face-to-face in the same physical location or work remotely. In the latter case, they rely on communication technologies to collaborate virtually, such as email and videoconferencing.
